19 May

may 19, 2010. my friend recently won a blog giveaway and his cool bowling ball lighter came wrapped in a torn vintage curtain panel. he asked me if there was anything we could do with the fabric and we came up with the idea of making throw pillows.

there was just enough of the curtain to make the fronts of two 16″ pillows. i used a coordinating green duck cloth to make welting and a tan-and-cream checkered herringbone for the backs. though i split the sewing over two nights (because i wanted to finish a book), this project took less than two hours, including cleaning, cutting, pinning, and sewing, and cost less than $20, including two pillow forms.

i’ll now be on the lookout for cool vintage cloth remnants to make my own set of pillows.
