on the first day of christmas…

1 Dec

right. i have actually not been drinking any adult eggnog. i know the first day of christmas is traditionally on… okay, i don’t really know when the first day of christmas is. i’ve always thought of the twelve days of christmas as being the twelve days leading up to december 25th. apparently, the first day of christmas is christmas. that works out pretty well, then, don’t you think?

because my holiday cheer officially kicked in this weekend, i wanted to spread the love. my christmas gift to you, dear reader, is one post every day for the next 25 days. the twenty-five days of christmas. i remember my previous consecutive blogging experiment and i’m not sure if i really want to commit, but i don’t want to be a blog humbug (my own joke!), so you’re in luck.

i plan on posting one christmas/holiday song per day, as well as various other christmas goodies, like crafts, gift ideas, books, moives, etc. sound good? it should.

the first song of christmas is the heartache can wait by brandi carlile. i have been listening to this song a lot lately and i know it isn’t the most cheerful of holiday songs, but i’m learning that the holidays are not always cheerful. i love the eerie sadness of the opening chords and the lyrics, especially “i’m thinking about years gone by. i’m thinking about chruch at midnight. i’m thinking about letting go. i think that might finally be alright.”

to go with my twelve days of christmas, here are some plates that i want. maybe somebody will give them to me on the first day of christmas…
